We are saddened to announce the passing of Edward Oppenheimer today.  Ed was a third generation Rockville Centre resident.  Ed was very active in the Rockville Centre community.  He maintained his accounting practice in town.  He was a long time member of the Rockville Centre Fire Department.  He served as an Advance Emergency Medical Technician.  He was the first treasurer of the Rockville Centre Community Fund which assists individuals in the community who may be in need.  In 1995 he was elected to the first Nassau County Legislature as the representative for the Fifth Legislative District, which at the time covered Rockville Centre and parts of Baldwin, Lakeview and Freeport.  For the past ten years he served as a member of the Rockville Centre Board of Trustees.  He is survived by his wife Ethel, daughter Sarah (Brad Biel), son Andrew and grandson Sean. 

 

Funeral service is Friday at Temple B’nai Sholom – Beth David, 100 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre, NY at 12:00 noon.  Shiva to be announced.
