Why Isn't Election Day a Holiday?

November 25th, 2018

For a vibrant democracy to remain, we need to make the ability to vote easy for everyone.  Many voters don't have Election Day off and lose much-needed pay waiting on long lines or getting to their polling areas.  We have plenty of holidays every year.  Why not swap one for Election Day?

During the 2018 midterms, long lines remained in some urban centers.  In other areas, the number of voting machines were not sufficient to accommodate a specific area's voter base (some think this was intentional in minority districts).
