1. The Club Meeting - The RVC Dems had a great meeting, last night, at the Rockville Centre Middle School, moderated by Club President, Eric Sussman.   Dr. Richard Skolnik, a famed historian, gave an informative talk concerning a history of political conflict and sudden shifts in the partisan makeup of Congress, over the decades. Dr. Louise Skolnik, carried forward that theme, in a vibrant call to the grassroots, of all parties, to bring about sound and meaningful change, both nationally and in New York, by the election of well-informed candidates who have integrity, compassion, leadership skill and common sense.  That was a perfect introduction to the judicial candidates that then spoke,  each of whom is presently a judge of the Nassau County District Court: Hon. Andrea Phoenix, Hon. Andrew M. Engel, and Hon Valerie Alexander.  The judges also welcomed the idea, from a member of the audience, that they return in the coming year for a special non-partisan meeting to inform our residents concerning the work and procedures of the Nassau Count District Court.

A highlight of the evening was a presentation by our State Senator, Todd Kaminsky.  Senator Kaminsky reviewed the good work he has been doing, aimed at both substantive legislation and political reform. A good part of his presentation was spent showing how important it is for RVC resident and RVC Dems club member, Judy Griffin, to be elected to the New York State Assembly. Judy was out of town for a funeral and could not attend. We circulated information concerning her candidacy early this week. Our representative in the US House of Representatives, Kathleen Rice, was understandably busy in Washington, but sent a representative who reviewed for us the work she is doing and the difficulties of working in a Trump government.

Over the coming week, we will be circulating background information concerning the judges, Senator Kaminsky and Representative Rice. We will also provide information concerning the availability of lawn signs, bumper stickers and the like.

Club President Sussman, urges those who have not yet paid their dues, to do so. Similarly, if you know someone who should consider joining the club, please refer them to us.  Membership forms are available at our website (https://rvcdems.com/rvc-dems-info/membership-application/). He also called for people to volunteer to run for club office.  A short cut to pay dues, obtain a membership application or run for office, is to just do a reply to this TalkingPoints email.

2. Rally for Judy Griffin, this Saturday, at RVC Green. - Judy Griffin, our candidate for the NY State Assembly (District 21), will have a rally at the Rockville Centre Village Green, this Saturday, October 6, at 11 AM.  The rally is sponsored by Moms for Judy, "A Day of Action".  All residents are invited to attend and, if they wish, to later participate in a canvassing effort to promote Judy's candidacy.
